Nizhniy Novgorod Regional Charity Nongovernment Organization of Disabled People “Zabota” was created 12th November 1996.

Mission of organization: assistance to the formation of civil society by concrete activity aimed at the improvement of life quality of socially unprotected citizens. Unification of efforts of all citizens who strive for making their own contribution to the development of the assistance system to disabled, retired and underage people. Keeping spiritual values and national traditions.

Charity activity of the organization is orientated towards solving of following social tasks:

• Support and realization of programs which purpose is to help and rehabilitate persons who have problems with realization of own rights and interests;
• Facilitation of disabled people, teenagers and also persons who especially need social protection;

• Development of directions which promote psychological stability, education, spiritual and cultural development of person;
• Development of creative abilities of children and teenagers, support of teenagers activities.

Activity of the organization is realized on base of the charity program and in following directions:

Main fields of the organization are social activity, non-formal education, cultural and sport activity.

The organization consists of 98 members, 65 permanent employees, 250 temporary employees, rooms about 1200 square meters.

Target group: disabled, retired, unemployed people, poor citizens, teenagers, orphans, young specialists.

About 3000 people are yearly drowned into charity activity.

The organization copes with some directions of social importance.
Solving problem of facilitation of social groups is the especially successful activity of the organization.

The organization is executor of government program of facilitation.
Within the organization 45 permanent and 120 temporary workplaces are created for disabled people, teenagers, young specialists and other unemployed persons.
The center of temporary job, social care service for disabled people, service of health improvement and psychological support, advisory-training center, legal advise bureau, service of professional guardianship and integration, social programs’ office, area of labor adaptation, area of domestic activity, labor workshops, social reception-room are created within the organization.

There is also culture-sport club. The organization holds yearly street-football tournaments, which about 600 teenagers take part in.

Within the organization the first in Russia Intel Computer Clubhouse (ICC) works which is a part of international computer clubs’ network. It’s a common project of Boston Museum of Science and Media Lab (MIT). Intel supports the project. Intel Computer Clubhouse solves problem of children from families with law income level. Realization of this project promotes rise of educational, cultural level, forming of creative thinking and development of the society on the whole.

Under the treaty with of Nizhniy Novgorod Regional Department of labor and social care «Zabota» is the first nongovernment organization which is executor of government social order in the context of program «Making of rehabilitation system for disabled people in Nizhniy Novgorod». The organization rendered 17000 social services in context of common project with Nizhniy Novgorod Regional Department of labor and social carе. The project proposed development of experimental model «Social patronage of disabled people».

Main directions are realized in a number of social projects including international, which protect interests of disabled, retired and underage people.

2009

«Saytonastroenie»

Project goal: to increase the level of computer literacy of teens through their involvement into informal educational programs, promotion of information technology and IT-professionals. The increase of availability of Internet technologies.

«Site-makers of the future»

Project goal: to improve computer literacy of teens through their involvement into informal educational programs. Promotion of information technology and IT-professionals. The increase of availability of Internet technologies. The project has received support from VolgaTelecom. 28 teenagers were trained in basic computer literacy, 14 teens had in-depth course on internet technologies and made as a result 5 web sites for public organizations of the city.

«On the way to a successful future»

Project goal: to improve the competitiveness of children's homes in the society through the involving new technologies of integrated social adaptation in the interaction of public organizations and government agencies. Implemented with the support of the Russian Public Foundation National Endowment.

A course on social activity

Project goal: introduction of new social technologies in order to solve problems of involving persons with mental disorders into social relationships, qualitative change of lifestyle of the individual. The project was supported by British American Tobacco Russia and St. Petersburg charitable public organization "Center of Development of NGO. The project created the structure that worked out an innovative comprehensive model of the development of the potential of persons with disabilities, increasing their ability to exercise their rights.

2008

«Computer. Creativity. Success»

Project goal: to improve the computer literacy of children from poor families through innovative informal educational programs. Supported by the Department of Education and socio-legal protection of children of N. Novgorod. The project has created an educational computer market, where participants of the project (40) found out how to work with modern software.

«Development if potential of disabled persons in social and labor relations»

Project goal: Implementation of new social technologies, directed on the developing of the potential of persons with disabilities. Promotion the challenges of sustainable employment disabilities, the stabilization of labor relations and support of professional growth. The project was supported by the Russian Public Foundation National Endowment. People with disabilities - the project participants were able to empower professional, creativity, personal self-realization.

1999-2007

«It’s our football» — annual street football tournaments, which about 600 teenagers take part in. The project was realized at the expense of the organization.
«Demand» — system of youth professional growth. About 30 students of Nizhniy Novgorod universities do practical work on base of “Zabota” yearly. The majority of them use this work for writing term papers and doing graduate works.
«Modern volunteers» — realization of initiatives of young volunteers. About 20-render socially domestic services to retired, lonely people and veterans in the course of year.
«Charitable library» — forming fund of books. Poor citizens have open access to the books. Renovation is realized thanks to charitable returns, in the form of delivery of books and magazines without compensation.
“Zabota” actively participates in partner projects, programs and charitable actions:
• «White flowers» in favor of children who suffer from tuberculosis (1998-2002);
• «A little prince» in favor of inmates of Children’s Homes (2001-2005);
• «Developed areas of Moskowsky district» — target program of employment of teenagers. Organizers were Administration of Moskowsky district of Nizhniy Novgorod and placement service of Moskowsky district of Nizhniy Novgorod (2003-2006);
• «Old Nixhniy. People. Streets. Yards» — the aim of project was retaining and popularization of historical and cultural heritage of Nizhniy Novgorod region (2006);
• Relay-race “Friendship of nations” in Priwolzhsky Federal Region in the context of European youth action «All people are different, all people are equal» (2006).
"Zabota" obtains donations for giving financial support to low-income population.
People also get help in the form of sanitary séances, psychological support, medicines, foodstuff, ready-made garments, household chemical goods, holiday gifts, attendance of theaters and museums. Traditional charitable actions take place in the Day of retired people, Mother’s Day, “Ten-days for disabled people” and others.
Budget of the organization consists of: own incomes (social business), obtained funds (as a result of fundraising), grants (social projection), target financing.

“Zabota” actively develops social partnership with authorities, business, public associations.

The organization is participant of some legislative initiatives – “Charity activity in Nizhniy Novgorod Region”, “Social order”, “Allocation of workplaces”.

“Zabota” develops cooperation with educational institutions, gets students of lycées, universities and disabled students opportunity to do practical work, write term papers and do graduate works on base the organizations.
Treaties about long-term cooperation are concluded with Nizhniy Novgorod Government Lobachevsky University, lycées, secondary schools.

The organization is a member of
• Nizhniy Novgorod Association of NGO’s “Sluzhenie”;
• Coordinating Council of NGO’s, which are responsible for solving problems of family, children, women, attached to Social Care Department of Nizhniy Novgorod Region;
• Working group for youth policy. The group belong to Public Council for development of institutions of public society attached to plenipotentiary of President of RF in Priwolzhsky Federal Region;
• International network of ICC’s;
• Council of public associations attached to Governor of Nizhniy Novgorod Region.

“Zabota” has diplomas, testimonial letters from Administration of Nizhniy Novgorod, Administration of Moskowsky district of Nizhniy Novgorod, Regional Legislative Assembly, Employment Office, Social Care Department of Nizhniy Novgorod Region and others. Diploma of National Fund “Public recognition” is among them.
Charity social movement “Kind people of the world” decorated Natalja Simonowa (director of “Zabota”) with medal “For the sake of life on the earth” for success in social activity. She got also order of public recognition from encyclopedia “Who is who in Russia”.

Group of members got the rank of “Nizhniy Novgorod Prize-winner” for participation in socially important programs.

2006 “Zabota” was registered on “Board of Honor” of Moskowsky district of Nizhniy Novgorod.

Members of “Zabota” worked on probation in Germany, the USA, Lithuania, the Netherlands.

2007

“Youth corporation “Prestige” (innovation model of youth labor and leisure activity)

The aim is assistance to forming of active youth policy directed to increase of youth social activity through involving teenagers into different ways of positive efficient activity.
Project “Youth corporation “Prestige”
• Revealed spectrum of interests and needs of youth, a level of awareness about opportunities of employment;
• Innovation model of youth labor and leisure activity was developed;
• Over then 30 events directed to stirring up social position of target group took place;
• Over than 60 volunteers were involved into activity of the organization, 19 from them were foreign volunteers;
• In the context of the project over than 4000 young people were drowned into social work;
• 1500 services were rendered to the target group.

The project contributed to forming of young social resources, active social life participants who are responsible for organization of own life model and have positive influence on government decrees relating to interests of young citizens.
The project was supported by President’s program and realized on the basis of President’s order.

“Information-training center for NGO’s”

The aim is support of system of informing society, executive powers and legislative body about activity of NGO’s for more efficient use of recourses of institutions of civil society in solving regional problems.
Web-site “Soglasie” was set up, potential of social associations was intensified.
Regional government supported the project.

“Disabled people and IT have cart blanche together”

The aim is organization of “Ten-days for disabled people” (1-10 December 2007); popularization and use of IT to extend opportunities of disabled people in professional, creative and individual self-actualization; increase of professional competence of specialists who help disabled people.
Regional government supported the project.

“Rock-garden” – international volunteers’ centre
The aim is creating positive image of international volunteers’ movement, attracting attention to socially important problems and activity of Nizhniy Novgorod NGO’s.
The project united volunteers from 8 countries. It was outstanding event in cultural life of our city and assisted to solving of some socially important tasks.

2005 - present time

“Intel Computer Clubhouse”

The aim is assistance to development of creative abilities, professional orientation and self-determination of youth through mastering modern information technologies.
In the course of 5 years 1500 teenagers became members of the Clubhouse, hundreds computer projects of children were realized.
Corporation “Intel” supported the project.

2005

“We’ll manage it together”

The aim is creating sector of social patronage and adaptation for people with mental disabilities.
In the context of the project 60 disabled persons attended training in social-psychological, labor, domestic adaptation, 30 from them got temporary job.
Nizhny Novgorod regional charity fund “Partner council” supported the project.

2004

«Square of Heroes is waiting for its heroes»

The aim is assistance to development of civil initiatives and involving population into solving the problem of reconstruction and accomplishment center of Moskowsky district - Square of Heroes.
About 1000 inhabitans of Moskowsky district took part in charitable action.
Station of All-Russian party «United Russia» (Moskowsky district) and group of companies “Quarz” supported the project.

2003-2005

“Social care service for disabled people”

The aim is creating model of interdepartmental cooperation to provide a high level of integrating disabled people into society.
In the context of the project a cascading system of assistance to disabled people was developed. About 400 people made use of its services in the course of 2 years.
Nizhniy Novgorod Regional Department of labor and social care supported the project.

2003

“Grammar of labor for teen-agers”
The aim is preventive measures against antisocial behavior among teenagers thanks to involving them into socially useful labor.
In the context of the project about 100 teenagers attended labor school. Thanks to that labor force a rehabilitation-playing ground in one of the children’s homes (Chkalovsk) was built.
The project was supported by grant of Government charitable ball.

“Institute for development of job youth initiatives”
The aim is introduction of new social techniques to solve some problems of youth employment; involving teenagers into active social-labor relations and forming of prospect of labor-market’s development.
In the context of the project 605 teenagers from Nizhniy Novgorod participated in program of temporary employment.
The project was supported by grant of Fair of social and cultural projects of Privolshsky federal district “ Social forum. Nizhniy Novgorod – 2003”.

2002

“To work in order to live”
The aim is development of new ways of employment, retraining and social adaptation of socially unprotected citizens.
In the context of the project model of interaction of authority, commercial and non-government organizations in order to solve common social task was realized. New ways of employment and complex social adaptation of persons, who especially need social support, were successfully approved.
210 temporary workplaces were created, 800 persons got temporary job.
Social projects were provided with labor force.
The project was supported by Fund “Institute “Open society” (Soros’ Fund).

2001

“Sewing line”
The aim is to set up workplaces in sewing workshop (on base of “Zabota”) for disabled people.
7 workplaces were created in the context of the project.
The project was realized in the context of the task program of Federal State Placement Service of Nizhniy Novgorod Region.

2000

“We are rememberd, we are needed”
The aim is modification of quality of disabled people’s way of life thanks to their employment, their integration into labor community.
The center of temporary job for disabled people was created in the context of the project. 70 persons got temporary job on base of “Zabota” and other Nizhniy Novgorod organizations and concerns. Program of dispatching dataware was created. Its carrying capacity was 300 persons monthly.
The project was supported by grant of Nizhniy Novgorod social forum – 2000.

“The house where hearts are comforted”
The aim is to set up the service of social care for disabled, retired and lonely people.
The center of medical-psychological and social everyday life support was created in the context of the project.
The center included “health-schools” for retired people – “healthy heart”, “help yourself”, “school of charity”, “grandmother’s prescriptions”. In the course of year 360 persons attended lessons. All of them got topic books and booklets. 240 people got medicinal herbs.
The project was realized at the expense of the organization.

1999

“Labor exchange for disabled people”
The aim is reduction of unemployment of disabled people thanks to creating of temporary workplaces.
In the context of the project 400 temporary workplaces for disabled people were created on base of the organization and other Nizhniy Novgorod organizations and concerns.
The project was supported by Fund “Institute “Open society” (Soros’ Fund).
